Digi Lamp
Junior Year -Advanced Topics IN Digital Fabrication
In my digital fabrication class, we were asked to create a light fixture.
3D modeling the lamp in Rhino, I wanted to push the limits of 3D printer and manufacture the entire light fixture on the machine.
3d Print post processing
By printing my paneling very thin, the heated bed of the Taz 6 printer would leave my prints soft and workable.
Taking advantage of this, I bent the material around my stainless steel form before letting it cool into shape. This allowed me to produce shapes otherwise unobtainable on this technology.
Jointery
To connect the bent panels I created a simple ring and peg system.
The ring was printed at a slightly smaller diameter and out of a flexible material. This allowed for the rings to have a very tight seal.
Final ASSEMBLY
The final panels were connected to the arms using the same pin system.
